Tyler Freeman began his journey as a writer, director, and filmmaker not by picking up a cinema camera but by enrolling in college to study sound engineering. While it might seem like a roundabout way to become a director, it has served him well. Sound in films is an area of expertise that is sometimes viewed as less important than the other elements in the creative process, to the detriment of the final film.
After becoming Pro Tools certified, Tyler segued into an editing position with a production company. It was there that he honed his skills not only with the editing process but also with camera operations and cinematography. This led him to become a director on several high-profile commercial projects. Clients have included Rocket Mortgage, Parade, and Netflix.
